Season Two of X-Men spin-off show, The Gifted finishes its run on UK TV screens tonight with episode 16. This is it folks – unless a renewal happens, this could be the final hurrah for The Gifted.

As usual I’ll be blogging along live from 9pm as the episode airs on FOX, so why not follow along too. If you’re running a little bit behind, then here are the past blog entries:

8:50pm – I’m here!

8:52pm – Tonight’s episode of The Gifted is called oMens.

8:53pm – oMens is written by series creator, Matt Nix and is directed by former Star Trek star, Robert Duncan McNeill.

8:56pm – So, this is it. If the series is not renewed, The Gifted ends tonight after 29 episodes.

8:58pm – oMens aired in the US earlier this week, but I’ve avoided spoilers. At this point I don’t know if the series wraps up properly, or if this is an open-ended finale. I’m hoping for some kind of resolution.

9:01pm – Here we go.

9:03pm – It kind of makes sense that the final flashback is of the big mutant event.

9:05pm – The gang are formulating a plan.

9:07pm – I wonder – can Reed hurt himself with his powers?

9:10pm – Turner has been the best character in this show – I’ve said it time and time again.

9:11pm – I hope he gets a good resolution.

9:12pm – Caitlin has guns. Lots of guns!

9:14pm – An ambush!

9:15pm – The first ad break of the night.

9:16pm – While the adverts are on, you may wish to check out the new trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix. I did post it earlier in the week, but if you missed it, here it is…

9:22pm – I have a feeling Blink will be back at some point during this episode.

9:23pm – Is that a half-arsed attempt at putting Thunderbird in a costume?

9:25pm – Thunderbird is bustin’ out some moves.

9:28pm – How many bullets does it take to kill Thunderbird? I feel like he just got hit by a lot of bullets.

9:30pm – “My name is Thunderbird.”

9:31pm – Turner no longer cares if he lives or dies.

9:37pm – Esme is going to turn on the other Cuckoos, isn’t she?

9:38pm – Oh… maybe not.

9:39pm – Yeah, I thought so.

9:42pm – Polaris could just lift the vans out of the building, no?

9:43pm – This is the most action packed episode of the entire series. This is how every episode should have been.

9:45pm – Into the final ad break of the night.

9:46pm – This episode is easily the best of the season because a.) it has action and b.) it has consequences. This is what has been missing from the previous 15 episodes of Season Two. If this show does get a third season then these two points need to become a focus.

9:47pm – Do I think The Gifted will return? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, no I don’t think the show will come back, however, I do think it odd that there has been no official announcement. It’s possible the show could live on under Disney, but I doubt it.

9:49pm – If The Gifted and the X-Men movies are to continue under Disney then I expect we’re looking at a multiverse.

9:50pm – And I’d be happy with a multiverse. Keep everything that has been created in this X-Men Cinematic Universe, but shift it to an alternate universe within the MCU. Then just introduce a new collection of X-Men movies in the regular MCU.

9:53pm – Death predictions?

9:54pm – Reeva.

9:55pm – Yep.

9:56pm – I guess Reed couldn’t survive his own powers then.

9:57pm – Esme comes good.

9:58pm – I’m guessing that if this show does come back then Reed will have found a way to survive.

9:59pm – Blink? I knew it!

10pm – Oh… so that’s how the show ends? Has Blink just travelled from the future? She sure looks a little different than when we last saw her. Is she from the multiverse?

10:01pm – If the show does end here then that wasn’t the best way to end the series. Am I that fussed? To be honest, no. The Gifted feels like it’s on borrowed time and has been like that for a while now. I think it should just be rested.

10:02pm – Of course, I’d love to know where Blink has just come from… but will that really matter in the grand scheme of things?

10:03pm – Best case scenario: Avengers: Endgame creates a multiverse, the X-Men Cinematic Universe is folded into that multiverse and Blink has just travelled between the universes.

10:04pm – OK, so that’s it. Unless the show comes back, this is the end of the road for the live blogs of The Gifted. Thank you for following along each week – especially if you started this journey when I used to blog with The Honcho-SFX blog.

10:05pm – If you still want an X-Men fix then don’t forget that I am currently publishing a series of retrospectives/discussions on X-Men: The Animated Series.

10:06pm – And that’s all folks! Thanks.
