In 2000, actor Patrick Stewart appeared in the Marvel comic book movie, X-Men, where he played the role of Professor Charles Xavier. As the founder of the eponymous mutant super hero team, Xavier was an important figure head in the film, and thanks to Stewart’s performance, he made Xavier a fan-favourite character too.
Due to the box office success of X-Men, as well as the positive critical response, further X-Men movies soon followed, with Patrick Stewart reprising the role of Xavier for multiple sequels and spin-offs. The actor didn’t feature in every X-Men movie, but he did appear in a large number and certainly made his mark.
Outside of the X-Men movies, Stewart also crossed over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to appear in a couple of additional films as Xavier. These versions of Xavier came from across the multiverse.
