The second episode of Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia has landed on the Mattel Adventures YouTube channel and not only is it another fun slice of MOTU escapism, but it also brings Orko to the forefront. The fan-favourite Trollan wizard becomes a key focus of the episode, and for younger viewers who may not be familiar with the character, it acts as an ideal introduction too.
The episode is ‘Orko and Teela Set Traps for Skeletor!’, which pretty much tells you what the four-minute story is about. The titular heroes are fed up with Skeletor using the forests to launch attacks at the Royal city, so they begin setting up booby traps.
And it’s here where Orko does what he does best. He messes up, gets himself caught in a trap, and requires a little assistance to get free.
But before that happens, Skeletor’s evil minion, Trap Jaw drops by and attempts to capture Orko. From here, it’s up to Teela to take Trap Jaw out of the equation.

As with the first episode of Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia, this second helping includes delightful animation, an easy-to-follow story, and plenty of jokes. There’s a gag about Trap Jaw being unable to open traps, as well as a running joke about Trap Jaw and Skeletor forgetting Orko’s name.
This is of course quite humorous, but it also helps to make it clear to youngsters who Orko is. Not that they will need much reminding, as he is the stand-out star of the episode.
Within four minutes, Orko is introduced, it is explained he is terrible at magic, and it’s clear he’s very likeable. The episode leaves you wanting more from the pint-sized hero.

Because Orko and Teela Set Traps for Skeletor! is Orko-heavy, He-Man takes a major backseat (as does Skeletor), and yet it doesn’t hinder the fun at all. If anything, it’s great to see this show starting to expand its cast.
The beauty of Masters of the Universe is its varied collection of heroes and villains, so hopefully this will continue to develop further with more episodes. And if nothing else, having Orko appear in the second episode feels like the right move for a show which has youth appeal as well as nostalgic value.
As mentioned during the review of episode one of Masters of the Universe: Tales From Eternia, this is a ‘toon which is cross-generational. MOTU fans old and new can sit and watch this together and have a good time in the process.
And once again I encourage everyone to do this. Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia is fab!
