Onto episode five of Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia and this week there’s topsy-turvy madness in ‘Man-At-Arms’ Impossible Maze!‘ Now, if that doesn’t sound like an intriguing and inviting premise then I don’t know what does!

In the episode, Man-At-Arms invents a new device which he calls the Unpossible Maze Generator. The high-tech piece of wizardry is essentially a prison which he hopes to use on Skeletor and his minions, and just like the TARDIS in Doctor Who, it’s bigger on the inside.

Now, while this new prison might seem good on paper, Man-At-Arms has forgotten to factor in two very vital things which could create problems. The first is letting Orko anywhere near it (always a recipe for disaster), and the second is talking about it out in the open, where Skeletor and Co. can drop by to steal it.

What follows is a tricky situation whereby Man-At-Arms and Roboto get trapped in the maze prison, alongside Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, and Trap Jaw. Will they escape? I think we all know it’s highly likely.

With the Unpossible Maze Generator providing an excellent hook, as well as a fab visual backdrop for the action, ‘Man-At-Arms’ Impossible Maze!‘ is yet another fun-tastic slice of Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia. The usual dose of adventure, and humour is incorporated into the story, plus this time around we get Roboto!

Tales from Eternia continues to expand its cast with new additions on a weekly basis, and it’s great to see Roboto jump on board. He’s the sort of character young audiences adore (I certainly adored him when I was part of the young audience demographic) and it’s great to see him standing side-by-side Man-At-Arms, making sly little comments here and there.

But of course, the real selling point here is the maze. It’s the sort of idea that really fires up the imagination in younger MOTU fans, and is likely to be recreated or reimagined on the living room floor with a stack of action figures fighting their way out of a make-believe upside down prison.

Man-At-Arms’ Impossible Maze!‘ continues to expand the world of Tales from Eternia in enjoyable and entertaining ways. The show clearly has its eye on inspiring its viewers with stories that can be enjoyed beyond the show, and with a collection of characters who you want to spend time with.

He-Man gets the short end of the stick this week, with barely any screen time, but when you have seven characters in a four-and-a-half-minute episode it’s easily forgivable. The important thing is that this episode is a neat little adventure.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
