In 2006, Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo hit television screens. The animated superhero movie – featuring Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, Cyborg, and Starfire – saw the DC Comics’ super-group head to Japan, to crack an important case.

The movie aired on Cartoon Network and became the first feature-length film to be centred around the Teen Titans. However, it was far from the only Teen Titans movie, and in time other films soon followed.

But not all of the Teen Titans movies are connected and for audiences trying to keep track of the movie series, it can be a little difficult to know what to watch next. That is, unless you give this post a couple of minutes of your time.

Below is a run-through of the Teen Titans movie series, to help you navigate your way through the films. If you are unsure of how many Teen Titans movies there are, or what the best viewing order is, this post will help!

The original Teen Titans movie order

First up, and as discussed above, the first Teen Titans film to be released was the 2006 TV movie, Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo. The movie was conceived as a spin-off of the popular animated television show, Teen Titans – which ran for five seasons on Cartoon Network between 2003 and 2006.

The show was a big hit with fans, and was the first cartoon to be based on the Teen Titans characters. When the show came to an end in 2006, the team behind the series weren’t quite ready to say goodbye, so produced Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo as a finale to the series.

But here’s the important thing to note: You don’t need to have watched the television show to enjoy the movie, as essentially the film is a stand-alone affair. So, if you come across the film on TV or on a streaming service, you can watch it without needing any major backstory.

As there is only one movie here, you can either watch the movie as follows:

  • Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo (2006)

Or if you want to add the show into the mix, watch in this order:

  • Teen Titans Seasons 1 to 5 + Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo (2006)

The Teen Titans GO! movie order

Following the success of Teen Titans, Cartoon Network ordered a new animated series based around the characters. The show was to begin airing in 2013, however, this time around the cartoon was to be aimed at a slightly younger demographic.

The core cast from the previous series returned to voice the characters of Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, Cyborg, and Starfire respectively, but this series was NOT a direct continuation of what came before. Instead, this was a sort-of reimagining of the previous Teen Titans cartoon, which retained a few of elements of its predecessor (i.e. the cast), but moved in a new direction.

Although the show received some initial criticism from fans of the previous Teen Titans cartoon, Teen Titans GO! was incredibly popular, running for more seasons and more episodes than its predecessor.

And due to this popularity, the show was accompanied by a collection of spin-off movies – the first of which was the appropriately titled, Teen Titans GO! to the Movies, which received a theatrical release. The film saw the Titans star in a hilarious, off-the-wall romp, which featured various cameos from other DC Comics heroes.

Thanks to a positive response from critics, as well as a healthy box office, additional movies followed this first film. These films were produced as a mix of direct-to-video titles or TV movies, and continued with Teen Titans GO! vs. Teen Titans.

This movie was conceived as a crossover between Teen Titans GO! and the original Teen Titans cartoon. The plot of this movie centred around the multiverse, and featured various Titans teams, all coming together to fight a common evil.

The next movie to arrive was Teen Titans GO! see Space Jam – a movie which saw the Titans kick-back and watch an abridged version of the 1996 movie, Space Jam. This was then followed by another multiverse film in the form of Teen Titans GO! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse – a crossover film with the DC Super Hero Girls line.

If you wish to watch the Teen Titans GO! movies in order, then simply follow this list:

  • Teen Titans GO! to the Movies (2018)
  • Teen Titans GO! vs. Teen Titans (2019)
  • Teen Titans GO! see Space Jam (2021)
  • Teen Titans GO! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse (2022)

Although the movies are essentially stand-alone affairs, which DO NOT require audiences to watch the television show (seriously, you don’t need to watch the show at all), should you want to watch the series and the movies together, then follow this list:

  • Teen Titans GO! Seasons 1 to 4
  • Teen Titans Season 5 up to ‘Kabooms Part 2’ (season 5, episode 4)
  • Teen Titans GO! to the Movies (2018)
