From 1977 to 1986, Marvel Comics published a collection of books called Marvel Comics Super Special. The comics were largely standalone stories and covered an eclectic mix of tales featuring rock stars, action heroes, sci-fi and fantasy characters, and even musical icons.
What made this particular run of comics stand out was that the vast majority of the 41 issues were adaptations of movies. The books covered the likes of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, The Empire Strikes Back, Krull, and Labyrinth, amongst others.

The odd one out

Of the 41-issue run of Marvel Comics Super Special, the only issue not to be published in the US was issue #7 – an adaptation of the Universal Studios movie, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
The reason issue #7 did not see print in the US was due to ongoing communication issues between the production company and Marvel, as well as the general late running of the book.
