Onto episode ten of Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia, and in ‘Swap Meet‘, Skeletor has a new plan – and it involves Beast Man. Using the Jewel of Ages, Skeletor casts Beast Man’s mind into the body of Man-At-Arms, so he can sneak his way into the Palace.
Meanwhile, with Beast Man in his new body, Man-At-Arms is sent to Snake Mountain where he gets an insight into what it’s like to be a beast master. And with Beast Man in the Palace, he gets a taste of what it’s like to be nice.
You know, the strength of Tales from Eternia is the way in which the show manages to drop a little bit of a heart and some kind of moral into each episode, and ‘Swap Meet‘ doesn’t disappoint. In just four minutes – the length of the episode – ‘Swap Meet‘ sends Beast Man and Man-At-Arms on a journey of discovery which allows them both to understand and empathise with each other.
In the case of Man-At-Arms, he gets to see that maybe Beast Man isn’t as beastly as he makes out, and has genuine friends in the beasts he looks after. As for Beast Man, he gets to see an act of kindness from Teela, after she quickly works out some body swapping shenanigans have taken place.
Unlike previous episodes, there’s no action in this week’s instalment of Tales from Eternia, but that’s fine. The story does all of the leg work and it works well.
There is also a little bit of time for some comical Skeletor (always a treat), and Teela gets to stand out as the MVP of the episode. All-in-all, a good instalment of the show.
