Earlier this week, news broke that after 25 years The Simpsons Comic would cease publication this October. No reason was given for the abrupt cancellation of the long-running title, but could it have something to do with the recently agreed Fox/Disney deal?

A few days after The Simpsons Comic was cancelled, shareholders approved a deal worth $71.3 billion for Disney to buy 21st Century Fox. 21st Century Fox owns The Simpsons; Disney will shortly own all of Fox’s properties including The Simpsons; Disney owns Marvel Comics – can you see where I’m going with this?

Could the cancellation of The Simpsons Comic mean that The Simpsons will be revived at Marvel Comics? At present, The Simpsons Comic is published by Bongo Comics, but could the show’s move from Fox to Disney mean that Bongo is going to hand the title over to Marvel?

And could Mr. Burns and Cletus the slack-jawed yokel soon be rubbing shoulders with the Hulk and Spidey? A Hans Moleman and Aunt May team-up surely has to be on the cards, right?

Just a thought.
