The Simpsons has just broken a record – it is officially the longest-running scripted prime time TV show.
According to Digital Spy, having now clocked up 636 episodes (and counting) The Simpsons has surpassed the previous record holder, which was Gunsmoke with 635 episodes. Gunsmoke – a Western set in and around Dodge City – ran from 1955 until 1975 and was accompanied by a radio show.
To highlight this significant and pretty damn impressive achievement for The Simpsons, 20th Century Fox has created a special video which you can watch below. You might not watch The Simpsons anymore, but 636 episodes is a fantastic record by any stretch of the imagination and deserves a round of applause.
