It’s week nine of Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia, and as we arrive at the episode ‘He-Man and Skeletor… Work Together?!‘, the question that needs to be asked is: Has Tales from Eternia still got the goods nine episodes in?
The answer? You bet it has! The show continues to fire on all cylinders, and this week we get the added presence of Fisto and Clawful!
The pair join He-Man and Skeletor in an adventure which takes place in a battle arena. The heroes and villains have been transported to the arena (against their will) to take part in a brawl between good and evil.
Now, as you might expect from a story of this nature, the only way to survive the arena is to join forces, leading He-Man and Fisto into a temporary alliance with Skeletor and Clawful. But in a surprising move, Skeletor is on board with this union, as he sees the benefit.
From here, some action takes place, Skeletor proves he doesn’t have the patience for annoying foes, and the united foursome achieve their goal. Some jokes are also tossed at the screen, with Skeletor getting some killer lines at Clawful’s expense.
It’s all brilliantly put together and joyful to watch. If only every show was this delightful.
You know, pretty much every week I harp on about how Tales from Eternia manages to cram so much into a four-minute episode, but it’s true. This week’s story begins with an attack on Castle Grayskull, switches to the arena, tosses in a (brief) alliance between four characters, and then restores the status quo with Skeletor ready to hate He-Man again.
Something which Skeletor revels in by the way. Tales from Eternia always seems to suggest that Skeletor doesn’t ever want to really win, he just wants to remain in an eternal rivalry with He-Man.
Heck, if he did win it wouldn’t be fun anyway. Tales from Eternia gets way more mileage out of Skeletor just being a thorne in He-Man’s side.
But I digress. There is just four minutes to tell a story, and once again Tales from Eternia hits the mark. Bravo.
If you’ve still not taken a look at Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia, you really are missing out on some highly enjoyable, bright and breezy viewing. Give it a watch for the action and adventure, but stay for the comedy and of course for Skeletor.
The series is reportedly 20 episodes long, so you’ve still got time to hop in, but don’t leave this show waiting too long. And if you have been watching since the start, this is top notch stuff, isn’t it?
