Arriving on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries very soon is the brand-new medical drama, Heart of the Matter. The movie stars Aimeé Teegarden, Gail O’Grady, Andrew Zachar, and Chandler Massey, and follows the story of a cardiologist, dealing with the tragic death of one of her patients.
The official blurb for Heart of the Matter (via Hallmark) reads as follows: “Andie Hodges (Teegarden) is an accomplished, young cardiologist who has great passion for the patients she treats and prides herself on giving them the best of care. But the accidental death of Henry (Massey), a young patient of Andie’s with an intellectual disability, leaves her shaken and doubting her ability as a doctor.
“As she grapples with this loss, a confrontation with Henry’s angry mother Gladys (O’Grady) adds to her despair and leads her to further question her professional future. With a malpractice lawsuit looming and potential sanctions from the medical review board, Andie begins to rethink her loving relationship with Patrick (Zachar), who has been understanding and supportive of her.
“But as Andie and Gladys learn to overcome their sorrow through forgiveness, they learn that acceptance leads to hope.”
Heart of the Matter is a Crown Media Productions, LLC picture, with James Wilberger on board as executive producer. Alexandre Coscas, Ben C. Silverman, Michael R. Goldstein and Simon Richardson as producers.
Heart of the Matter is written by Karen Struck, with Mark Jean on directing duties. Hallmark fans will be familiar with Mark Jean, as he has previously directed many fan-favourite movies including Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries: Ships in the Night (2021), Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: A Game of Cat and Mouse (2019), and Murder, She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery (2015).
