What is Hallmark’s Family History Mysteries: Buried Past?

With Christmas now done and dusted, it is time to look ahead to what 2023 has in store and coming up on the horizon very shortly is a new Hallmark mystery movie. The film makes its debut this month, it stars Janel Parrish and Niall Matter, and is called Family History Mysteries: Buried Past.

Sound like something you would like to sink your teeth into? Well, if you’re a fan of Hallmark mysteries, you’ll be pleased to know that following a break over the holiday period, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is bringing back its Signature Mystery films, with Family History Mysteries: Buried Past being one of its first big premieres.

The official blurb for Family History Mysteries: Buried Past (via Hallmark) reads as follows: “Genealogist Sophie McClaren is an expert at bringing families together. When her close friends Jonathan urgently needs to find a bone marrow donor, the case becomes personal.”

Janel Parrish takes on the role of Sophie in the new movie. Parrish has been in the industry since a young age, and has previously appeared on stage, as well as on television and film.

Possibly best known for the TV series, Pretty Little Liars, where she played the part of Mona, Parrish has also starred as Margot in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved movies. For Family History Mysteries: Buried Past, she stars alongside Hallmark favourite, Niall Matter, who is taking on the role of Jonathan.

Matter will be no stranger to Hallmark fans, having appeared in more than twenty Hallmark movies to date, including a recurring role in the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries. More recently, Matter appeared in Rip in Time, The Secrets of Bella Vista, and When I Think of Christmas.
