This year marks the 10th anniversary of GRIMMFEST – the UK’s horror film festival. The event – which this year takes place at the ODEON Great Northern in Manchester – runs from the 4th-7th October 2018 and promises four days of gruesome goodies.

Amongst the highlights of this year’s event is the launch of the GRIMMFEST Awards – an annual awards ceremony celebrating all that is great within the horror genre. Categories include the likes of Best Feature and Best Scare, while judges include Rue Morgue‘s Andrea Subissati and actress, Lauren Ashley Carter.

As well as the GRIMMFEST Awards, horror icon, Barbara Crampton will be in attendance to talk about her career and to introduce a special screening of Re-Animator (1985), as well as a screening of one of her new movies. The actress – known for films such as From Beyond (1986) and You’re Next (2011), will also be receiving a special lifetime achievement award.

In a press release, GRIMMFEST’s festival director Simeon Halligan said: “This is our 10th anniversary year and to celebrate, we will be focusing on women in horror. We’ve already announced our new awards structure and the all-female jury but we also felt it was perfect timing to invite one of our favourite screen stars to the festival.”

Full festival passes are now on sale for GRIMMFEST, with day tickets and a full programme of events being released shortly. Those attending can expect to view a whole heap of movies, including some old favourites and some newbies.

Are you going? Have you attended previous GRIMMFEST events?

Each year I tell myself I should check GRIMMFEST out as I live two-minutes from where it is held and each year something else comes up. I think this is the year to attend.
