This August, Coyote vs. Acme arrives in cinemas. The live-action/animated comedy from director Dave Green stars Will Forte and John Cena, and follows Wile E. Coyote’s attempts to file a lawsuit against Acme – the company who produce all of those lovely gadgets which he uses in his ongoing quest to capture Road Runner.
During the course of the movie, Coyote and his attorney, Kevin Avery develop a growing friendship, which motivates their determination to win the court case. Only problem is, they are up against Buddy Crane, Kevin’s former boss, who is very good at his job.
The initial buzz surrounding Coyote vs. Acme has been very encouraging, plus the inclusion of favourite Looney Tunes characters, Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner, should certainly grab the attention of young audiences. The film is also arriving during the tail-end of the summer, when the blockbuster season comes to an end, so it means there is less competition and the film is more likely to be appealing to young audiences.
But when Coyote vs. Acme does make it onto the big screen, will it be suitable for children? Just because the movie stars Looney Tunes characters doesn’t mean it is automatically an all-ages picture.

Coyote vs. Acme UK rating
In the UK, Coyote vs. Acme has been granted a ‘PG’ certificate by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). The film has received this rating for “mild bad language, threat, (and) injury detail”.
In the UK, movies rated ‘PG’ (Parental Guidance) are deemed suitable for general viewing, meaning they are fine for children. The BBFC advises that some scenes may be unsuitable for young children, but “should generally not unsettle a child aged around eight.”

Coyote vs. Acme US rating
In the US, Coyote vs. Acme has been rated ‘PG’ by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPA). The film has received this rating for cartoon violence and some language.
In the US, if a movie is rated ‘PG’, it means parental guidance is suggested. Parents are urged to use their own judgement here, as ‘PG’ rated movies may contain some material which parents may not like for their young children.
However, the general consensus is that ‘PG’ rated movies are suitable for most children and families.
