In 2007, Rise of the Footsoldier stomped its way into cinemas. The British gangster movie, from director Julian Gilbey, followed the story of a football hooligan who becomes a member of a notorious London gang.
Although Rise of the Footsoldier wasn’t a huge success at the box office, it found an incredibly loyal audience on jome video, and this helped the film to secure a sequel. In turn, this led to other movies, and Rise of the Footsoldier soon developed into a long-running movie series.

I love these sort of films with real British gangsters with the accents to go with them. I am 80 years old now and these sort of people were the same as we used to look up to when we were scruffy kids with no money hooking around for empty bottles to exchange for 1penny to buy a Woodbine !!! I remember most of them were very generous towards us kids giving us sweets and stuff, we thought they were very
glamorous kings and queens of our time.
