If you’re busy compiling a list of movies to watch this year, or you’re trying to find suitable films for the younger members of your household, then you may be interested in a new animated picture which is on its way to Netflix. The movie – from Happy Madison productions – is called Leo and is described as an “animated musical comedy”.

Featuring the vocal talents of Adam Sandler in the title role, Leo follows the story of a lizard who is keen to explore the outside world, after years of being stuck in a school classroom. However, things don’t go quite to plan for Leo, resulting in plenty of drama.

The official description for the movie (via Netflix) reads as follows: “Actor and comedian Adam Sandler (Hotel Transylvania, The Wedding Singer) delivers signature laughs in this coming-of-age animated musical comedy about the last year of elementary school – as seen through the eyes of a class pet. Jaded 74-year-old lizard Leo (Sandler) has been stuck in the same Florida classroom for decades with his terrarium-mate turtle (Bill Burr).

“When he learns he only has one year left to live, he plans to escape to experience life on the outside but instead gets caught up in the problems of his anxious students — including an impossibly mean substitute teacher. It ends up being the strangest but most rewarding bucket list ever.”

Directed by Robert Marianetti, Robert Smigel, and Davide Wachtenheim, Leo stars Sandler, along with a cast that includes Bill Burr, Cecily Strong, Jason Alexander, and Rob Schneider. Other cast members include Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Jackie Sandler, Heidi Gardner, Nick Swardson, Nicholas Turturro, Robert Smigel, Jo Koy, and Stephanie Hsu.

No streaming date has been set for Leo just yet, but the picture is currently looking to land on Netflix during fall/autumn 2023.
