Frustrating news for fans of the Arrowverse – this year’s epic crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths will not air in full in the UK.

The five-part crossover, which begins in the US this weekend, covers five different shows, Supergirl, The Flash, Batwoman, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. At present, only four of these shows air in the UK – and this will impact the crossover.

Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow air in the UK via Sky One. Batwoman doesn’t air on Sky or anywhere in this country, and this is where the problem lies.

UK fans had hoped that Sky was going to pick up the show, as part of its collection of super hero shows, but it appears this will not be the case. Speaking via Radio Times, a spokesperson for Sky said:

“Sky do not own the rights to broadcast Batwoman, so at present time there are no plans for it to air on Sky One.

“We will, however, be showing the current seasons of Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow (and in 2020, Legends of Tomorrow) in full, including all crossover episodes for those series.”

So, how does this impact the crossover? Well, without Batwoman, UK viewers will be missing the second part of the crossover which will include key characters and story beats (as well as fan-pleasing cameos).

It is possible that a UK broadcaster, such as Channel 5 or Channel 4 (the most likely candidates) could suddenly announce they have acquired Batwoman, but this is unlikely to make a difference. The broadcaster would need to play catch-up (very quickly) to ensure the crossover episode of Batwoman lined up with the four episodes being broadcast by Sky and that simply won’t happen.

Sorry, folks.

From Smallville and Batman: The Animated Series, to Birds of Prey and Black Lightning, Crisis on Infinite Earths promises to be an epic TV event, packed with a wealth of guest stars from the wider DC multiverse.

Guests that have already been confirmed for the crossover include Kevin Conroy, Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Burt Ward, Ashley Scott, Cress Williams, John Wesley Shipp, Osric Chau, Johnathon Schaech, Tyler Hoechlin, Bitsie Tulloch and Jon Cryer. Many other, secret guests are expected to appear in the five-part adventure story.
