This is a good news/bad news story. Let’s start with the good first.

Nickelodeon is currently working on a TV revival of Are You Afraid of the Dark?. The TV project is in addition to the forthcoming Are You Afraid movie.

The show will be a three-episode mini-series directed by Dean Israelite and written by Ben David Grabinski. According to Deadline, the series will star Sam Ashe Arnold, Miya Cech, Tamara Smart, Jeremy Taylor, Lyliana Wray, and Rafael Casal, as new members of The Midnight Society.

So that’s the good news.

Now for the bad.

The Are You Afraid of the Dark? movie, which was originally scheduled for release this October, has been pushed back. The delay is due to some backstage changes.

As of yet there are no details on when the movie will arrive.

Bugger.

Originally broadcast on Nickelodeon from 1990 until 2000, Are You Afraid of the Dark? was a Canadian children’s horror series offering up a sinister slice of terror in a half-hour time slot. The show comprised seven seasons, totalling 91 episodes, and provided audiences with genuinely creepy stories such as The Tale of the Super Specs (1992), The Tale of the Crimson Clown (1994) and *Shudders* The Tale of Apartment 214 (1994).
