Paramount Pictures has confirmed the release date for forthcoming Nickelodeon movie, Are You Afraid of the Dark?.

Highlighting the date at CinemaCon (via Bloody Disgusting), Paramount announced that the movie will hit cinema screens on October 11th 2019, just in time for Halloween. The movie is being written by Gary Dauberman and it is believed will follow the format of the TV show, i.e. a group of kids (known as The Midnight Society) telling scary stories around a campfire.

Originally running on Nickelodeon from 1990 until 2000, Are You Afraid of the Dark? was a Canadian children’s horror series offering up a sinister slice of terror in a half-hour time slot. The show comprised seven seasons, totalling 91 episodes, and provided audiences with genuinely creepy stories such as The Tale of the Super Specs (1992), The Tale of the Crimson Clown (1994) and *Shudders* The Tale of Apartment 214 (1994).

Hopefully the movie can replicate some of the chills of the series, whilst providing fans with a good interpretation of the opening credits…
