And the winner of today’s reason why the internet is angry is…
Chip ‘n’ Dale – Disney’s cartoon chipmunks who never did anything bad to anyone.
So why is the internet angry with Chip ‘n’ Dale?
Because the internet is always angry – at some point it had to be the fault of Chip ‘n’ Dale, right?
OK, that’s not the actual reason.
The reason that people are angry is because Disney has revealed artwork for a forthcoming Chip ‘n’ Dale TV series and people don’t like it. They don’t like it because:
- a.) It looks nothing like Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers
- b.) It isn’t what they imagined
- c.) It isn’t a cartoon they want to watch
- d.) All of the above
Here is said artwork…
This artwork is from a new take on Chip ‘n’ Dale that has NOTHING TO DO WITH CHIP ‘N’ DALE: RESCUE RANGERS. Instead, this is a new show that will be available to stream on Disney+.
According to Variety, “The series’ 39, seven-minute episodes will be produced using traditional animation styles and feature contemporary slap-stick narratives as the furry pair struggle with life in the big city.”
So yeah, this is not the Chip ‘n’ Dale show we had during the ’80s/’90s, it is more akin to the old shorts. It is a reboot of the Chip ‘n’ Dale characters, not the Rescue Rangers concept.
Of course, this doesn’t matter because the backlash has already begun. The comments sections of various entertainment websites are already filling up with negative feedback, and the show hasn’t even aired yet.
Oh well, at least this takes the flack off the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot that people hate…
…or the Star Wars films that boil everyone’s piss…
…or the ThunderCats/She-Ra shows that irk people.
You get the point.
