A new Chucky movie is in the works – a remake of Child’s Play – which means there is a new voice actor taking on the role.

But who is the new voice of Chucky?

None other than Star Wars/Joker actor, Mark Hamill!

The actor revealed the news yesterday, during WonderCon 2019. Speaking via social media, Hamill said:

“‘People let me tell you ’bout my best friend…’ The wicked fun begins when @ChildsPlayMovie is unleashed in theatres.”

The post was accompanied by a video, where Hamill elaborated further. He said:

“Hello WonderCon, it’s Mark Hamill here and if you’re wondering who’s going to voice Chucky in the new Child’s Play you’re looking at him.”

Hamill added:

“I can’t wait to bring such an iconic character to life and present him in a way you’ve never seen him before. Child’s Play arrives this summer – we’re gonna have some fun. And remember: he’s more than just a toy… he’s your best friend.”

Hamill will be taking on the role for the remake, but he will NOT be replacing original voice actor, Brad Dourif. Dourif will continue voicing the killer doll for the forthcoming Chucky television series.

The remake of Child’s Play arrives in cinemas in June. The movie stars Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry and Gabriel Bateman.
