It’s early June, the summer blockbuster season is in full swing, and Masters of the Universe is now playing in cinemas. The epic fantasy romp from director Travis Knight brings the cartoon and toy line to life in colourful pulse-pounding splendour, maintaining all the imagination, creativity, and wackiness of the MOTU mythology, and if you’re a fan of He-Man and Skeletor you’ll find much to enjoy.

So, with Masters of the Universe very much at the forefront of discussions right now, this edition of the It’s A Stampede! Newsletter is all about the movie. A number of new Masters-themed posts have popped up on the blog in recent days/weeks, and you won’t want to miss them.

Who the heck is Orko?

Throughout the marketing for Masters of the Universe, there was one key question that fans asked again and again: Where is Orko? One of He-Man’s greatest allies appeared to be missing from trailers and any promotional material, prompting fans to wonder if he was in the film or not.

No spoilers here about whether Orko made it into the final cut of the film, but the question some people have been asking is: Who is Orko? And there’s a handy-dandy post to help field that question.

Perfecting the past

One thing that many fans of MOTU will tell you about the new movie is how it is an improvement on the previous Masters movie from 1987. The former film has a loyal fanbase (and rightly so) but this new one captures the spirit and essence of Masters of the Universe in a much better way.

Want to know how? Then take a look at the post: How Masters of the Universe (2026) fixes the mistakes of the 1987 movie.

Setting up the sequel

Let’s assume Masters of the Universe is going to make a bazillion squillion dollars at the box office, and a sequel is on the way. What characters would you want to see in a second film?

Well, how about these 11 heroes and villains? Some of these must be a forgone conclusion, right?

And finally, with Masters of the Universe proving old TV shows still have plenty to offer on the big screen, now is the time for more blasts from the past to be given the film treatment. Why stop at He-Man when we could be living in a golden age of fantasy entertainment?!
