In 2014, Paddington made its way into cinemas. The charming British movie, based on the classic children’s character created by Michael Bond, told the story of a talking bear who migrates from ‘darkest Peru’ to London, England.

Once in London, Paddington is adopted by the Browns, where he becomes a beloved member of the family. However, he soon finds himself getting into a spot of trouble, when he crosses paths with a twisted taxidermist.

Filled with likeable characters, a heartfelt message, and plenty of comedy, Paddington was a delightful movie which quickly became adored upon release. Critics loved it, as did audiences of all ages, and the film went on to become a box office hit.

Due to the success of Paddington, more movies followed, including the absolutely brilliant Paddington 2. But how many Paddington movies are there and which films should you be looking out for?

Paddington (2014)

As noted above, the first film in the series was 2014’s Paddington. The movie introduced the titular bear, who initially lives in the jungles of Darkest Peru with his Aunt Lucy, before he travels to London.

Upon arrival in the UK, Paddington meets the Browns, before shortly being adopted into the family. However, life becomes a little more challenging for the bear, when museum taxidermist Millicent Clyde spots Paddington and attempts to add him to her collection. (95 mins)

Paddington 2 (2017)

Due to the box-office success of Paddington, as well as the general good-feeling toward the film, it didn’t take long for a sequel to be put into production. The sequel – appropriately titled Paddington 2 – arrived in cinemas in 2017 and continued to wow audiences.

In this film, Paddington remains an invaluable member of the Brown family, however, trouble is soon on the horizon when he is framed and imprisoned for a burglary he didn’t commit. The real culprit is egotistical actor, Phoenix Buchanan, but can the Browns find a way to exonerate their favourite bear? (104 mins)

Paddington in Peru (2024)

With Paddington 2 being another critical and commercial hit (which many argue was even better than its predecessor), a third movie was put into production under the title Paddington in Peru. In this movie, Paddington and the Browns decide to visit Aunt Lucy in Peru, however, events soon take a turn, leading them on a misadventure in the Amazon rainforest.
