In 2016, actor Ezra Miller took on the role of Barry Allen for a couple of minor cameo roles in the action-adventure movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the ensemble film, Suicide Squad. The cameos did not give Miller a significant amount of screen time, but they acted as a quick introduction to the scarlet speedster for audiences less-than familiar with the character.
The point of the cameos was to make audiences aware of Miller as the Flash, before giving him a more substantial part in the 2017 team-up film, Justice League. In this film, the Flash would appear alongside Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Cyborg, as a founding member of the League.
From here, the Flash would then move his way up to his own solo movie. However, as this solo film took a little longer to get off the ground than anticipated, the character popped up in a couple more cameo roles along the way (including a cameo in the television show, Arrow, where he very briefly interacted with Grant Gustin’s version of the Flash).

As you will see, Ezra Miller first appeared as the Flash in the film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, before moving through various other movies and interconnected stories, often in cameo roles, before getting his own solo movie.

It is also important to note that 2017’s Justice League and 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League are essentially the same movie, just different cuts of the film. The 2021 version is a considerably longer cut (almost twice as long), so features more scenes with the Flash.
