In 1984, fantasy drama Highway to Heaven descended onto screens. The television show – created by Little House on the Prairie’s Michael Landon – told the story of an angel called Jonathan Smith (played by Landon), who is sent to Earth to help those in most need.

Teaming up with retired policeman, Mark Gordon (played by Victor French), Jonathan moves from town to town doing his best to complete his holy mission. Along the way, Jonathan and Mark improve the lives of various people, under the guise of modern-day good Samaritans.

During the course of its run, Highway to Heaven was very successful. It regularly performed well in the ratings – specifically during its early years – and attracted a wealth of well-known guest stars, including Ned Beatty, Jonathan Frakes, Shannen Doherty, Ed Asner, Eli Wallach, Frank Welker, Josh Brolin, Leslie Nielsen, Didi Conn, Dick Van Dyke, Nan Visitor, Ernest Borgnine, Bob Hope, Darren McGavin, and Roscoe Lee Browne, amongst others.

But how many episodes of Highway to Heaven were produced? Was this a long-running show, or was it short-lived?
