Understanding Hart to Hart

Hart to Hart made its TV debut in the US on August 25th 1979. The pilot episode proved to be a hit with viewers and was quickly followed by a full season beginning in September of the same year.

The first season of the show proved popular, and was followed by a second season in 1980. A third season aired in 1981, followed by a fourth in 1982, and then a fifth in 1983.

At this point, after five seasons and 111 episodes, Hart to Hart came to an end. The show aired its final episode, ‘Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch’, on May 22nd 1984.

But due to continued interest in Hart to Hart, this was not the end of the road for Jonathan and Jennifer Hart, and in 1993, almost a decade after the show ended its run, Hart to Hart was revived. The revival came in the form of a collection of TV movies, beginning with the appropriately titled, Hart to Hart Returns.

The next year, three additional movies hit TV screens, including Home is Where the Hart is, Crimes of the Hart, and Old Friends Never Die. This was followed in 1995 by two further films: Secrets of the Hart, and Two Harts in 3/4 of the Time.

The revival of Hart to Hart proved successful, but all good things must come to an end, and in 1996 the Hart to Hart TV movies concluded with Harts in High Season, followed by Till Death Do Us Hart. The final movie aired on August 25th 1996 – exactly 17 years to the day that the pilot episode of Hart to Hart made its debut.
