In 2019, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries aired Crossword Mysteries: A Puzzle to Die For. The movie – directed by Don McCutcheon – starred Lacey Chabert and Brennan Elliott and followed the story of a crossword editor and a detective who team-up to solve a murder.
The movie proved to be a hit with audiences and in turn kick-started a series. New films followed in 2019, 2020, and 2021, and to date there are five entries in the Crossword Mysteries collection.
The most recent entry in the series was Crossword Mysteries: Riddle Me Dead which aired in April 2021. But since the film aired, many fans have wondered about the future of the series and are now asking the question, will there be another Crossword Mysteries movie?
The good news is, a sixth Crossword Mysteries movie is in the pipeline. The movie was confirmed back in 2020, via Crossword Mysteries lead, Brennan Elliott.
Elliott made the announcement while promoting the release of Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver (the third movie in the series). He shared a post on Twitter, highlighting the imminent arrival of the third film and said: “Can’t wait for you all to c this one tonight!! It’s sooo much fun! Who doesn’t love fun laughter, magic, mystery and of course a bit of romance! C u all tonight.”
In response to Elliott’s tweet, a fan of the Crossword Mysteries series said: “U guys work so good together lets hope u make more”, to which Elliott replied: “We are making 3 more this summer.”
This tweet from Elliott confirmed that the Crossword Mysteries movie series would be expanding from three films to six, and as we now know, movies four (Terminal Descent) and five (Riddle Me Dead) aired earlier this year.
But what of the sixth movie?
When will it air and what will it be called?
Well, at present, there are no further details on when the sixth movie will arrive or what title it will carry. However, bar any major changes since Elliott made the announcement, the film is on its way, so fans should expect to learn more about the sixth film in the not-too distant future.
