In 1996, Dragonheart flew its way into cinemas. The fantasy adventure movie, about a knight who befriends a dragon, starred Dennis Quaid, Sean Connery, David Thewlis, and Pete Postlethwaite.

Dragonheart received mixed reviews from critics, but proved popular with audiences, making it a box office success. As such, the film was followed by a series of direct-to-video sequels/prequels which developed the story further.
