They say a picture paints a thousand words – and in this post I am hoping to canvas an entire dictionary. How will I do this? Via a a small selection of images that I am convinced you will love.

The images are snapshots Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game cartridges. Or more specifically, the artwork featured on said cartridges.

From Donkey Kong Classics through to Dr. Mario, I have picked out a selection of titles to showcase. So, if you’re a NES fan, or you simply adore retro games, you will want to cast your eye over some nostalgia-inducing imagery.

Game on: NES cartridge artwork

Advertisements

Below is a small selection of images focusing on NES cartridges. If you grew up during the 1980s and the early 1990s, then many of these cartridges will seem very, very familiar – and all in a good way.

For me, the artwork is exciting to look at, but more importantly it transports me back to a more carefree time. A time when after-school gaming ruled… and where I sucked at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the images, and the temporary journey back to the past. Scroll away!

Admit it, after scrolling through these images you now want to dust off your NES and play Super Mario Bros. 3, don’t you? Well, that’s perfectly acceptable – it is an awesome game.

In fact, I think I need to play Super Mario Bros. 3 again too. And maybe Super Mario Bros 2.

And Super Mario Bros.

And who doesn’t have time for a little bit of Dr. Mario?

You know, I could be some time. You might want to show yourself out.
