After various delays and revised release dates, 20th Century Fox’s Disney’s The New Mutants WILL finally see the light of day in 2020.

The Marvel movie – which was filmed in 2017 – will arrive in cinemas in April. And what’s more, a new trailer will be released on Monday 6th January (that’s next Monday)!

The news comes via The New Mutants director, Josh Boone, who took to social media to say: “New trailer supervised by myself, co-writer @knatelee and colour corrected by the great @peter_deming arrives January 6th.

“We’re very excited to share it with you! In theatres everywhere April 3rd!”

When asked by a follower if the movie would be the original version of the movie, rather than an oft-rumoured edited version, Boone said: “I wouldn’t be promoting it here if it wasn’t.”

The movie – a spin-off from the X-Men film series – was originally set for release in April 2018. However, reports suggested that early test screenings of the film were less than positive, so the movie’s release was pushed back to February 2019 to allow for re-shoots.

Those re-shoots didn’t happen and The New Mutants was pushed back to August 2019 to give it more time to be worked on – or so it was believed. But if the version due out in April hasn’t been altered, then it would seem that the movie simply fell victim to the Fox/Disney merger, rather than a newd for re-shoots.

Either way, if you’ve been waiting patiently to see The New Mutants it looks like your patience is about to pay off. It also means Fox’s X-Men movie series isn’t over yet.
