In news that will come as no surprise, FOX has officially cancelled X-Men spin-off series, The Gifted.

According to Variety, the series will not return for a third season.

I’d like to say I’m sad and/or shocked about this news… but that would be a lie. While the first season of The Gifted demonstrated a great deal of potential, the second season was a snooze-fest and a chore to stick with.

I guess that cliffhanger will never get resolved now.

With the cancellation of The Gifted, the only X-Men/FOX projects still to come are X-Men: Dark Phoenix (in cinemas June), Legion Season Three (hits TV screens in June) and The New Mutants (the movie’s release date is still up in the air).
