I’m a retro toy collector. More specifically, I’m a retro toy collector who favours toys from the 1980s and 1990s – including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I’ve previously talked about my collection of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys, but in truth I collect a number of toy lines. In addition to the Turtles, the toy lines I collect at are The Real Ghostbusters, Funko Pop! figures, Masters of the Universe Pint Size Heroes and whatever else grabs my attention.

These are just a small sample. Don’t they all look cute?

But these aren’t the only toys I’ve got – I also have a couple of boxes filled with random figures. Bucky O’Hare, X-Men, Toxic Crusaders and Monster in My Pocket, as well as McDonald’s toys, a few Batman figures and some Bionic Six toys.

Speaking of which – how difficult is it to get hold of Bionic Six figures, in good condition in the UK? I’ll tell you now, it’s very difficult indeed!

For those who don’t recall, Bionic Six was a short-lived superhero ‘toon from the 1980s. If memory serves, in the UK the series cropped up during episodes of Wacaday – so you may remember seeing it sandwiched between games of Mallet’s mallet.

Anyway, Bionic Six wasn’t particularly popular in the UK, which means the toys aren’t that easy to come by. To make matters worse, the toys were made from a combination of plastic and die-cast metal, so most loose figures are now pretty beat up, as the paint simply flakes off the die-cast parts.

Anyway, I’m always on the hunt for Bionic Six figures, so if you ever see me scrolling through eBay, then chances are this is what I’m looking at.

Speaking of eBay, does anyone else spend far too much time looking for toys on eBay? Toys they plan to collect at some point in the future?

*Raises hand*

I have a mental list which includes toys I would like, toys I would like to know more about, and toys that I once had and now I am interested to know how much they sell for.

The toys I often have on my radar include: Mighty Max, ThunderCats, Galaxy Rangers, Visionaries, Swat Kats and Jonny Quest. At least two of these toy lines are quite expensive and not so easy to come by.

The really frustrating thing? I had so many toys when I was a kid, but I either sold them or gave them away.

*Shakes head*

So, that’s where I’m up to right now with collecting, but how about you?
