Walt Disney Studios has released a new trailer for the forthcoming live-action Aladdin movie.
If you were on the fence about the movie previously, this trailer might sway you.
Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari and Will Smith as the Genie. The movie arrives in cinemas in May.

It looks alright, but I just can’t see the point of it (sorry). My kids will probably love it though!

In reality, there is no point to it other than to make cash. Disney appears to be remaking its animated movies simply because they are guaranteed hits. Although Disney owns many heavy hitters (Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars etc) it’s own movies (A Wrinkle in Time, The Lone Ranger, John Carpenter, Tomorrowland, The Nutcracker) all failed to perform at the box office. The animated movie remakes do well, so Disney is sticking to what works.
