Some exciting news this morning…

Mattel Inc – the leading toy company behind iconic brands such as He-Man and Barbie – is launching a film division! According to Variety, Dallas Buyers Club (2013) producer, Robbie Brenner is overseeing Mattel Films as Executive Producer, reporting to Ynon Kreiz, Mattel’s new chairman and CEO.

Brenner said:

“Generations of children around the world have grown up with deep emotional connections to Mattel’s brands and characters.” She added: “There are so many stories to be told and so many imaginations to be captured by these iconic brands, and I look forward to working with Ynon and his team to do so.”

So, could this mean we finally get a new He-Man movie?

It’s possible!

According to Variety, the Masters of the Universe movie that was in consideration with Sony is no longer happening, after the option to make the project expired. This means that after what seems like an Eternia…

…sorry, eternity, a new He-Man movie could happen!

Finger crossed.
