Mark Hamill has taken to social media to share his thoughts on the inclusion of Carrie Fisher in Star Wars Episode IX.
In a tweet, the Star Wars actor, said:
“It’s bittersweet facing my final chapter without her – she is simply irreplacable.”
He added: “I’m finding solace in the fact that she won’t BE replaced & would love the worldwide outpouring of affection from those who loved her when they heard the news. #CarrieOnForever”
On Friday it was announced that Carrie Fisher would feature in the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, with director J. J. Abrams utilising previously unused footage of Fisher, shot during the course of filming The Force Awakens. It was also announced that Mark Hamill would be reprising the role of Luke Skywalker for Episode IX, joining a large ensemble cast that includes Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian.
Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd and Anthony Daniels will also star in the new movie, with John Williams providing the music. Filming begins at London’s Pinewood Studios on Wednesday, with a release date set for December 2019.
