Earlier this morning, while discussing the possible end of The Walking Dead, I happened to mention my love for Australian TV show, Neighbours. Well, now I actually have a cool story to share about Neighbours – how happy am I right now?
Anyway, onto the news at hand: Neighbours is set to make TV history with the wedding of same-sex couple, Aaron Brennan and David Tanaka. The pair are due to tie the knot on September 3rd 2018, becoming the first same-sex couple to get married on TV since Australia legalised same-sex weddings.

In a statement, Matt Wilson who plays Aaron Brennan, said: “This storyline means a lot to me, to my friends and to all the fans we hear from on a daily basis here and in the UK who love Aaron and David.”
Takaya Honda, who plays David Tanaka, said: “It is an absolute privilege to be a part of what is and will be a historic moment in Australian television. There have been so many parts of David’s story that have given me a great sense of pride and which have been an absolute honour to portray; from discovering Paul was his dad, to his coming out to now marrying the man of his dreams in what will be the first legal gay wedding on a drama.”
Congratulations to both. I think I’ll need to buy a hat for the occasion.
In the UK, Neighbours airs weekdays on Channel 5.
