Over the last few days a number of high profile shows have either been cancelled or renewed – or in the case of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, cancelled then renewed. But what about Gotham? What is the show’s fate?
Well, if you’re a fan of the Batman prequel series then I have good news and I have bad news.
Will Gotham be renewed for Season Five?
The good news is that Gotham has been renewed by Fox for a fifth season. The bad news is that this will be Gotham‘s final season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fifth and final season of Gotham will focus on Bruce Wayne’s transformation into Batman. No word on how many episodes there’ll be, but it’s being suggested it might be less than previous seasons.
If you live in the US then Gotham will return to your screens later this year. For UK viewers there’s no confirmation (just yet) of when or where the series will air.
In the UK, Gotham fans have been given the runaround when it comes to the show, having had to follow the series across multiple platforms. The first two seasons aired on Channel 5, before the show moved to Netflix for Season Three & E4 for Season 4.
Many fans in the UK, who don’t subscribe to Netflix, simply haven’t seen Gotham‘s third season. Hopefully they’ll get to see it’s final season.
So, what are your thoughts on Gotham? Are you sad it’s ending or do you think it should have concluded much sooner? Tell me your thoughts in the comments section below.
Personally I’m not a fan of Gotham; from what I’ve seen I find it too derivative of the Batman mythology, however I appreciate it has a loyal following. At the end of the day, if it brings new fans to Batman then it hasn’t been a bad thing, right?
Gotham Season Five will air in the US in 2019 – not during the back-end of 2018.
