Ram Man arrives – Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia reviewed

In ‘Beware Ram Man!‘, aka episode 12 of Masters of the Universe: Tales from Eternia, the titular hero makes his debut, initially as a mild adversary to He-Man. In the episode, He-Man and Battle Cat are travelling, they encounter Ram Man, and he’s reluctant to let them pass through his land, causing He-Man to walk away.

The evil Goat Man catches sight of this exchange, and after updating Skeletor on the situation, ol’ bonehead comes to the conclusion that Ram Man could be useful. If Skeletor’s evil minions can convince Ram Man to test his ‘ramming’ abilities against the front door at Castle Grayskull, then maybe they can trick him into breaking inside.

Ram Man falls for the trick and attempts to smash his way into Grayskull. But will he see through the lies and instead use his ‘ramming’ skills for good?

With He-Man, Battlecat, the Sorceress, Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, Beast Man, Goat Man, and Ram Man all in the same episode, ‘Beware Ram Man!‘ is a packed instalment of Tales from Eternia. It’s also a fun little story too, which focuses on manipulation.

In the story, Ram Man is tricked and his strength and unique skills are exploited by Skeletor and his lackies. Under their influence, Ram Man becomes a dangerous adversary, as well as a genuine threat to Grayskull.

However, thanks to the power of good, as well as a little more thought, Ram Man is eventually shown a different path. He comes to realise that he can’t just go around ‘ramming’ everything, because it’s not always the best use of his talents.

And this is what is at the crux of this episode. It’s easy for anyone to be tricked or manipulated; the important thing is to stop and consider what is going on and decide if this the right path for you.

It’s a simple moral message, but one which is important for young viewers to learn. It’s also very much in keeping with the type of message that Masters of the Universe excels in, and it’s handled rather well in this episode.

So, another neat slice of Tales from Eternia? You bet!
