1980s and 1990s

Angelina Jolie made her acting debut as a child, taking a small appearance in the 1982 film, Lookin’ to Get Out, which starred her father, Jon Voight. Credited under the name of Angelina Jolie Voight, this brief brush with fame would give her a taste for the industry.
Eleven years passed before Jolie would return to the movie business, and when she did it was via the 1993 sci-fi film, Cyborg 2: Glass Shadow. By now Jolie was an adult, and was back in the industry for good.
From here Jolie landed a part in Hackers, which raised her profile, before appearing in Hell’s Kitchen and Pushing Tin. Her career was then elevated when she starred opposite Denzel Washington in The Bone Collector, before appearing in Girl, Interrupted, which bagged her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

However, it was playing the role of computer game icon, Lara Croft in two Tomb Raider movies which brought her international attention. Lara Croft is a beloved character, and starring in two pictures – one in 2001, one in 2003 – brought the actress to a whole new audience.
