In 2001, 20th Century Fox released the romantic musical drama, Moulin Rouge!. The film – directed by Baz Luhrmann – starred Ewan McGregor, Nicole Kidman, Jim Broadbent, and Richard Roxburgh, and told the story of a penniless writer, who falls in love with a courtesan, with tragic results.
