In 1946, Kirk Douglas made his film debut in the movie, The Strange Love of Martha Ivers. From here he followed up his film acting work with appearances in movies such as Mourning Becomes Electra, Out of the Past, and I Walk Alone.
To begin with, his on-screen appearances were small roles, but soon his star status began to grow. This in turn increased his presence on the big screen, and propelled his career forward.
Over the years, Kirk Douglas starred in films such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Spartacus, and Catch Me a Spy. His final film role came in 2008 via the television movie, Empire State Building Murders.
