Last night in the US, Hallmark aired a new romantic drama, Moriah’s Lighthouse. The movie premiered on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, as part of Hallmark’s Summer Nights season, and starred Rachelle Lefevre and Luke Macfarlane.

In the movie, Lefevre played Moriah – a woodworking artisan, who dreams of restoring a local lighthouse. Meanwhile, Macfarlane took on the role of architect Ben, who has other ideas.

During the debut of the new movie, the Hallmark Twitter account was very active, posting Tweets about the new film, to encourage interaction with fans. And there was plenty of interaction indeed, with some very encouraging comments coming from viewers.

Commenting about Moriah’s Lighthouse, one Twitter user said: “I watched it and was thrilled”, while another said: “Definitely my new favourite Hallmark film, starring my all-time favourite actress.” Meanwhile, another said: “One of the best Hallmark movies in a while… excellent.”

And with the praise coming through on social media, lead actress Rachelle Lefevre, took the opportunity to ask fans what they would like to see from a sequel – should the opportunity for a follow-up arise. She said:

“Okay, I want ideas for Ben & Moriah’s next adventure. Moriah’s Irish Pub? Moriah’s Finnish Sauna? Moriah’s Belgian Chocolate Factory? Let’s get a sequel!”

Lefevre’s Tweet prompted various responses from fans, with one Twitter user suggesting they would like to see a combination of all three of the ideas that Lefevre put forward. Others suggested the plot could revolve around a wedding venue, while the general response that came across quite clear was that whatever the story idea, viewers would certainly like to see more.

So, could a sequel be on the horizon? That is up to the Hallmark gods to decide, and for now, fans will simply have to wait and see; but Lefevre certainly wants one!

Based on the Twitter response last night, the online feedback has been very encouraging, and it appears as if Moriah’s Lighthouse has certainly gone down a treat with Hallmark audiences. If there is an appetite for more, then Hallmark will no doubt look into it, and make an announcement in the fullness of time.

In the meantime, last night Lefevre did reveal a couple of behind the scenes titbits, that fans will surely want to know, beginning with the revelation that it was VERY cold during the shoot of the movie. Lefevre, said: “Rarely in my life have I been colder. Freezing. So cold. Did I mention it was a little chilly?”

The actress also revealed that the love letters seen in the new movie were real-life lover letters – not just props! Lefevre, said: “The love letters we used in the film were real love letters written between the prop guy’s grandparents in the 30s & 40s! Not the words we read, but the letters themselves. Insanely cool!”

It’s little details like this that viewers really appreciate, and help Moriah’s Lighthouse find its fanbase. So, let’s wait and see if that fanbase will now be rewarded with a follow-up movie.
