A new Aurora Teagarden movie is on the horizon, and before it hits screens later this month, Hallmark has revealed some key details about the new film.
Those details include the names of the cast members who will be popping up in the story, as well as a few snippets about the plot, which includes an intriguing link to the past.
First up, let’s take a look at the title of the new movie which is called Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Haunted by Murder. The film is the 18th entry in the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries series, which started way back in 2015 with A Bone to Pick.
The official blub for the new movie, which comes via Hallmark, reads: “When Aurora Teagarden and her best friend, Sally Allison, were teenagers, they entered the infamous “haunted” Crenshaw Mansion on a dare. To their shock, they came upon a dead body in a secret room!
“It’s now 20 years later and Aurora’s mother, Aida, has bought the Crenshaw Mansion with plans to renovate and sell, dismissing the notion that the house is haunted. But the more time they spend in the mansion, the more convinced Aurora is that the body they found long ago was not the result of an accident.”
The description continues: “Someone – or something – really doesn’t want Aurora, Nick and their friends in the Real Murders Club digging into the past because there are a lot more secrets to be found in the Crenshaw Mansion… secrets worth protecting at all costs!”
Onto the cast of this new movie now, and fans will of course be delighted to know that Candace Cameron Bure is back on board, reprising the role of the title character. The popular actor has appeared in all of Hallmark’s Aurora Teagarden Mysteries movies to date, most recently taking centre-stage in 2021’s Honeymoon, Honeymurder.
For this latest movie, Bure will be accompanied by Niall Matter, Marilu Henner, Lexa Doig, Peter Benson, Mia Shanks, and Brad Harder. She will also be joined by her real-life daughter, Natasha Bure, who will be playing a teenage version of Aurora for this thrilling instalment.
Commenting on her involvement in the film, Natasha Bure said: “Being part of this movie is so thrilling because I get to play the younger version of Aurora which is played by my mother!”
Joining Natasha Bure is Mia Shanks – the real-life daughter of Lexa Doig. Shanks will be playing the younger version of Doig’s character, Sally, for all the flashback sequences.
Commenting on her involvement, Shanks said: “I’m very excited. It’s a brand-new opportunity that I’ve never experienced before.”
Speaking about what makes this new movie stand out from the previous instalments, Lexa Doig said: “They revisit what I think is probably the origin story if you will, of Aurora Teagarden’s curiosity for solving murders.”
Candace Cameron Bure added: “I think it’s going to be really interesting for the audience to see Aurora and Sally as teenagers and when all of it started.”
Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Haunted by Murder is based on a script by Teena Booth and is directed by Martin Wood. Wood has previously directed multiple instalments of the popular film franchise, including Honeymoon, Honeymurder (2021), Reunited and its Feels So Deadly (2020), and A Bone to Pick (2015), amongst others.
The new movie is from Muse Entertainment and is produced by John MacCarthy. Candace Cameron Bure, Michael Prupas, Charlaine Harris, Jamie Goehring, Martin Wood and Jim Head are executive producers.
The Aurora Teagarden movies are inspired by a series of books by author Charlaine Harris. To date Harris has written 11 novels featuring Aurora Teagarden, with the first being Real Murders, published in 1990, and the most recent being Sleep Like a Baby, which was published in 2017.
While no new books have been published over the past few years, this hasn’t stopped Hallmark from releasing plenty of new movies. The Aurora Teagarden Mysteries are one of the network’s most popular franchises, and this new movie is sure to meet the approval of the character’s loyal fanbase.
