When Space Jam pocket-passed, double-dribbled, and slam-dunked its way into cinemas back in 1996, it arrived with an imaginative story, plenty of humour, and a whole host of colourful characters. From Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, to Yosemite Sam, Taz, and Marvin the Martian, the movie was (space) jam-packed with Looney Tunes stars and they really helped to bring the movie to life.

However, it wasn’t just cartoon characters that featured in Space Jam; the movie also included NBA player, Michael Jordan. In the movie, Jordan played a fictionalised version of himself, in a story in which he had to come out of retirement in order to team up with the Looney Tunes to win an all-important game.

Jordan was the headline star of Space Jam – and a huge draw for audiences – but he wasn’t the only professional sports star to feature in the movie. As well as Jordan, the film also included a big collection of basketball players, many of whom dropped by for cameo roles.

But who are all of the basketball players in Space Jam? Answer: It’s probably more than you think.

Now, while the above names demonstrate that Space Jam was crammed with many major sports stars, there are a few high-profile stars who didn’t appear in the movie. Notable NBA stars who did NOT feature in Space Jam include Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James.

Of course, LeBron James would have only been 11/12-years-old when Space Jam was released, so his absence from the movie is pretty self-explanatory. However, James is now a huge star in the NBA and as such, he is the lead actor in the Space Jam sequel, Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021).
