In 2016, the South Korean horror movie, Busanhaeng arrived in cinemas. The movie – which focused on a sudden zombie apocalypse – was largely set aboard a train, and mixed horror and suspense with a huge dose of action.
Busanhaeng was a smash hit with South Korean audiences, before becoming a huge success with Western audiences, where it appeared under the name Train to Busan. And such was the popularity of the film, it was soon accompanied by further entries in the series.
In this post, I am taking a look at the Train to Busan movies to present a viewing order of the horror film collection. This list provides a rundown of all the films, along with some additional details about the series.

What is the order of the Train to Busan movies?

To date, there are three Train to Busan movies. The Train to Busan movies were released in the following order:
- Train to Busan (2016) (aka Busanhaeng)
- Seoul Station (2016) (aka Seoulyeok)
- Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula (2020)
Train to Busan was the first movie to be released in the series, and is a live-action horror film. Shortly after the movie’s release, it was followed by a feature-length animated prequel called Seoul Station.
In 2020, another live-action movie was added to the series. This film was called Train to Busan: Peninsula and acted as a standalone tale set in the same universe as 2016’s Train to Busan.
As the movies were not released in chronological order, the timeline of the three films differs slightly to the release order. Therefore, if you wish to watch the movies in chronological order you should view them as follows:
