In 2008, director Matt Reeves unleashed Cloverfield into cinemas. The found footage monster movie, about a group of New York residents in the midst of a monstrous invasion, was a hit with critics and led to a (sort of) sequel.
But how many Cloverfield movies are there?

The Cloverfield movies in order

Are all of the Cloverfield movies part of the same series?

Erm… The Cloverfield movies are a little unconventional. While they are all part of the same series, the films are more like anthology tales and are only loosely connected.
Let me explain.
The success of Cloverfield led Paramount Pictures/producer J.J. Abrams to develop sequels; but rather than work from scripts specifically written as Cloverfield movies, they took existing, unproduced scripts (which had nothing to do with Cloverfield) and reworked them to become part of the Cloverfield Universe. 10 Cloverfield Lane was based on a script called The Cellar, while The Cloverfield Paradox was based on a script called God Particle.
In order to make these scripts into Cloverfield films, extra material was added, to provide a link to the widerCloverfield Universe. These links help explain a connection between the films, but in essence, each movie could be viewed as an unrelated piece (as originally intended).

Who are the cast of the Cloverfield films?

Notable cast members in the Cloverfield film series include Michael Stahl-David, John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Gallagher Jr., Bradley Cooper, Suzanne Cryer, John Ortiz, Daniel Brühl, Donal Logue, Chris O’Dowd, Zhang Ziyi, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and T. J. Miller.

Is the Cloverfield series the work of the same director?

The Cloverfield movies are the work of multiple directors. Matt Reeves directed Cloverfield, Dan Trachtenberg directed 10 Cloverfield Lane, and Julius Onah directed The Cloverfield Paradox.
Oh, and it’s worth noting that many people incorrectly believe J.J. Abrams is a director within the series; but he is not. Abrams is a producer.
