Frozen II arrived in cinemas less than two weeks ago, yet the film is already one of the most successful movies of the year.
Since its release on 20th November, Frozen II has raked in $738,573,344 at the worldwide box office. This figure – which continues to rise – currently places Frozen II as the ninth highest grossing movie of 2019.
Not only is Frozen II doing well at the box office, but its success also means that Disney now has six films in the Top Ten list of 2019! These films include Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King, Captain Marvel, Toy Story 4, Aladdin and of course, Frozen II.
All of these films – with the exception of Frozen II – have taken more than $1 billion dollars at the box office ($2 billion in the case of Avengers: Endgame). Can Frozen II reach the $1 billion club? It’s looking very likely.
I should also mention that in addition to the six movies listed above, the Mouse House also had a hand in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which, yep, you guessed it, also sits in the Top Ten of 2019. So, I reckon that’s six and a half movies from Disney, right?
With Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker due out in just a couple of weeks, it’s likely Disney will be adding another name to this Top Ten list too. But let’s leave that discussion for another day.
For now, here is the current box office Top Ten of 2019:
- Avengers: Endgame – $2,797,800,564
- The Lion King – $1,655,988,858
