Black Panther has been nominated for the Best Picture award at the 91st Academy Awards.
With this nomination, Black Panther is now the first super hero movie to ever be nominated for a Best Picture Award.
This is history in the making.
In addition to the Best Picture nod, the Marvel movie has also been nominated for six additional awards, including Best Costume Design, Best Original Song, Best Original Score, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing and Best Production Design.

Black Panther isn’t the only super hero movie up for awards this year – Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Incredibles 2 are in the running for Best Animated Feature, while Avengers: Infinity War has been nominated for Best Visual Effects.
