It’s post-Christmas week, that bizarre period of time when you’re not quite sure if you should be stuffing your face with mince pies or whether you’re supposed to be back at work. In truth, it’s probably both, but if you’re lucky enough not to be back at the grindstone then you’re most likely looking for something to pass the time.

Sound legit?

Right then, I have a recommendation – Bird Box!

Last Friday, Bird Box arrived on Netflix. If you’re not familiar with it, or you simply haven’t gotten around to watching it yet, tonight could be the night.

I previously posted the trailer on It’s A Stampede!, but for those who missed it, here it is once again.

Based on the book of the same name by Josh Malerman and directed by Susanne Bier, the film stars Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, Sarah Paulson and John Malkovich. The movie is a post-apocalyptic drama, wherein Sandra Bullock finds herself fighting for survival in a world where sight is a hindrance.

Bird Box is a mix between The Walking Dead and A Quiet Place (2018) and is a tense thriller with a stand out performance from Bullock. It’s chilling and brutal at times, but if you like horror/thrillers then this is one for you.

My husband and I watched Bird Box last night and both of us loved it. He has spent the majority of the day reading memes about Bird Box… because apparently that is what everyone is doing right now.

Anyway, Bird Box is currently available to stream on Netflix and is highly recommended. Had I watched it prior to publishing my post, Thirty-seven movies of 2018… that are worth a watch, it would have been number 38 (with Bumblebee at 39).

So yeah, watch it and let me know your thoughts. And if you’ve already watched it, what did you think?

Bird Box revels in ambiguity, but it’s good, right?
