A quick update on the status of Bond 25…
The movie has secured a new director in the shape of Cary Joji Fukunaga. Taking to twitter to make the announcement, the James Bond team said:
“Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig announced today that #Bond25 will begin filming at Pinewood Studios on 4 March 2019 under the helm of director Cary Joji Fukunaga with a worldwide release date of 14 February 2020.”
So, that means Daniel Craig is still very much on board and while Danny Boyle’s departure has impacted the film a little, the release date hasn’t slipped too much. The movie was originally scheduled to open in November 2019, but now it’ll be Valentine’s Day 2020.
If you’re asking the question: Who is Cary Joji Fukunaga?
He’s perhaps best known for directing Beasts of No Nation (2015) and the first season of True Detective. At one point in time, before Andy Muschietti took over, Fukunaga was also attached to direct ‘IT’ (2017).
